With the absence of reliable electricity in the area, PLN Gorontalo Biomass Power Plant opts to use 45 kWp Rooftop Ongrid Solar Power System to support its electricity needs.
Gorontalo is the youngest province in Sulawesi Island established in December 2000 as a result of the regional autonomy development plan by the government of Indonesia. As the youngest province, Gorontalo faces challenging infrastructure needs, especially electricity needs.
To accelerate the development in Gorontalo, PLN Gorontalo decided to increase the electrification ratio using the abundant solar irradiation in the region. As a pilot project, PLN Gorontalo installed Rooftop Solar Power System in its Biomass Plant to energise its control panel and other electrical equipment to ensure continuous production process in the factory. Designed, installed and commissioned on-schedule by PT Selaras Daya Utama in 2014, the project serves as the model to use Solar Power for industrial needs.
